1. Tell us something about yourself, and your project "Ka Sol"?

Let's do the short version of the Ka-sol story :-)

My name is Christer Lundström , Im 30 years old and am grown up in a very small Middle class community in Sweden Called Björklinge That is close to Uppslala , Björklinge is a very boring place and Music was early my big interest in life , I got my first set of drums when i was 12 years old and me and my friends was beginning to start metal and punk bands to the left and right , sometimes i didn’t even know which bands i where playing in :-).
In the Late 80s I first herd a new kind of music called Acid House from a DJ friend of mine , I had a hard time to admit to my friend that I thought that it sounded pretty cool (I was a heavy metal freak you know) I got a couple of tapes with music from him that grew in my head.
That was my first meeting with modern dance music.
But the first techno music that I really bought was the Prodigy experience cd, I liked Those crazy beats so much that I decided to begin making techno music myself.
So I got a 4 channel music program called scream tracker and begun to experiment with sounds, I quickly got bored with the prodigy Rave sound and discovered the Harthouse and the Acid sound instead , In 95 or 96 I first met up with Jens Kvisler, he was the lead singer in a punk band that my little brother hung out with.
Me, Jens, Rimmet (Zoon released on Schlab) and a couple of friends started a punk band together just for fun. Jens was the one who introduced me to the goa trance sound/culture.
I begun to buy synthesizers and started to make music under the name of A.H.S ,then Jens also got interested in making electronical music so we started up the Ka-Sol project together, Shortly  Mikael Svennson who was (is) a good friend joined up with us to .
We had wild twisted sessions in our studio resulting in tracks like Centbridge, Professor mephisto and Flying Carpet. In 1999 Jens and Mike got jobs in Gothenburg and the Ka-Sol project was put on ice. I made some tracks under the name of Laundstroom , 2001 Jens and Mike moved back to Uppsala and we Had some sessions resulting in a couple of really nice tracks.
But the interest Jens and Mike had was not the same as before and I wasn’t in the best psychical shape at the time, our sessions became rare . Nowadays Jens lives in the US and Mike and I have almost no contact, I nowadays release almost all my work under the name of Ka-Sol.
And as I see it we are still 3 members but I am the only one of us active right now :-)

2. How would you describe the sound that you are producing? What does your
Music look like in general?

The sound is often experimental, dark and hard but kind of rich on melodies,
I’m trying to let the music create itself in a way, letting small errors and mistakes in the music be to give it life and the feeling of not being perfect
I try to make stories about Dark woods, trolls and fairies out of the tracks
The music is designed to be played in open air, my music just don’t like walls :-)

3. What is JADOORST?

That is a dungeon (well actually a small room) in my mothers’ house where we first started to make music. I still have my equipment there sometimes, when I don’t have any other place to have them

4. Tell us something about Schlabbaduerst label?

Both Ka-sol and B.O.T.F.B was tired of labels that was scared and nonbeliving of our music.
So D-Dave got the idea to start a "Do it yourself" Label together, I thought it was a great idea. We have now released 5 compilations , and got great feedback from the most people, In future we will try to release a couple of albums on Schlab to ,Maybe a Ka-Sol album

5. What's the Uppsala's nature and climate influence on the esthetics of
Schlabb?

Everything we do and see in Uppsala or anywhere else influences our sound and Label. And the climate in Uppsala is nice summers and cold as hell winters.
But one other thing is that almost all the people that release on Schlab
Have the background of Industrial/Metal music

6. What kind of music besides trance do you like to listen to, and play?

I’m listening to almost any kind of music, mostly Industrial, metal, Reggie, Ambient and Tripp hop.
I’m very fastidious and mostly listening to the more experimental and Extreme artists in each styles

I’m the drum player in a metal band called Harma , We have played together for 13 years and do it just for fun and friendship . there are no dreams of being rock stars :-)

7. Will Schlabbaduerst stay an underground label in the future? What are
the plans about Schlabb's future?

Schlabbaduerst will definitely remain underground, that is the whole idea of the label

8. Beside project Ka Sol, do you stand behind some other project names? Do
you plan some kind of collaboration with other producers?

ASH (Trolly John Bauer inspirited morning tunes)
Laundstroom (dark and strait music)
Exakt Abstrakt (to twisted and weird to be released as Ka-Sol)
Signal (me and Stefan Hansen)
Ka-Mugmesol (Kasol and Magnus from Buddahs)
Church of new age hippy disco shit (ka-sol and Buddhas)
Döda hundkyrkan (me d-dave and Marchaos)
Lard Fish (me and Marchaos)

That is the ones I come to think about right now but there is probably more :-)

I’m looking forward to begin collaboration together with Zoon
And am always try to have an open mind about new projects

9. What are some projects that in your opinion people should pay attention
to? What are some of your favourite projects?

Off course the Schlabbaduerst Projects :-)))
The most label released trance the last years is a kind of music that I can’t understand, It have no real spirits talking to me
but there is a couple of nice projects
toi doi is nice and the Russian and Finnish people is doing some great music
Cpc project and kin Dza Dza is some of my favourites
But the old Australian music is the best dance stuff ever made
Psy harmonics , Green ant , Demon tea. Labels everyone interested in real Psy madness Should check this stuff out :-)

10. Do you have some favourite places where you like to play your music,
places where you have a special feeling?

Yes off course, the most special feeling is to play deep inside forests

11. What can you tell us about the Midsommar festival and parties in Sweden
and Uppsala?

yeah . . midsummer is a big thing  . . everyone in Sweden is getting drunk :-)
and there is a lot of parties that night , but we never had any Uppsala party
that weekend, I always went to a town called Örebro until they stopped doing
Parties there a couple of years ago. Since then I have not been to a midsummer party

12. How do you see some kinds of trance music being more and more
Commercial, while some other kinds are going deeper underground?

I believe the commercial is all about money and fame, and more of having fun dancing
While the underground is more about searching spiritual experiences
I don’t dislike the commercial scene but its just not my cup of tea

13. What do you think about the greater connection between psychoactive
Substances and trance music?

Mushrooms ARE magical !!!! :-)
Trance music is designed to bring people to the state of trance and drugs are
A shortcut to trance . Nothing wrong with that, but it’s a shame that some people overdo it and get themselves hurt.

14. Besides music, what are other important things in your life?

Friendship, Love ,art The Nature and a computer game called Morrowind :-)

15. Would you like to say something at the end to the people that will read
this interview?

Yes. Dance on ,expand your minds. And hope to see you soon.
And Check this art out, This is what my music is all about
http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/farp/bauer/menu.html

One more time I have to thank you for answering these questions for
PsyGarden.Org. We hope that PsyGarden.Org will soon bring you over here to
Play on our underground parties!

Thank you too!!!
That would be fun :-)
